Welcome to the 7 Day Wedding Self-Care Challenge!

My name is Elishba Forde, and I’m the founder of Oxford Wedding Poetry – you guessed it – it’s a small wedding business all about using poetry to create a special personalised experience for your guests.

I’ve created this 7 Day Self-Care challenge especially for you because you’re so busy planning to show love and care towards each one of your wedding guests, it’s so important that you don’t forget to show yourself love and care in the run up to your big day – something I definitely learned from my own wedding planning almost six years ago!

It’s a huge milestone and change in life that should be celebrated in the lead up with being kind to yourself.

So I really hope you enjoy this challenge that I have very carefully crafted for you and wish I had at the time to encourage me to take that much needed time for myself.

Wedding planning can be so overwhelming and it’s really important to be kind to yourself, unwind, and recharge, so you can be the most efficient version of yourself when planning your perfect day, and actually enjoy the journey instead of burning out.

My business was founded on self-care, because poetry is an artistic expression I like to use to take time for myself to be creative with my thoughts and feelings, and channel these emotions onto paper in a period of reflection time – me time, similarly to journaling which works in a similar, therapeutic way for some people.

Poetry is such a powerful way of putting into words that which comes straight from the heart – I mean, there’s a reason why Shakespeare wrote so any sonnets to express love, right?!

So the act of writing poetry is not just a way for me to take out time for myself to do something that I really enjoy and show myself self-care and love through it, I love using it to express the love I have for others in a way that is unique and special only for them.

The first big gesture of love that I made for my now husband, was a love poem I wrote just for him a few weeks into dating. I had never done that for a guy before. And seven years later, he still carries it everywhere he goes in his wallet.

See, I believe that every love story is a fairytale just waiting to be told,

And words in the form of poetry,

Can take your guests on a beautiful journey,

As the details of your wedding day unfold.

Enjoy the challenge, immerse yourself in it, and I promise you won’t regret it.
